There’s no denying the fact that 2020 has been a full set of surprises that no one, not a single person, has ever wished for. From Australian bushfires, Kobe Bryant’s death, a global pandemic, protests and riots in parts of the United States, online learning and remote work... 2020 has sure been one heck of an emotional rollercoaster. So darling, there’s no need to lie, it’s been rough- we wouldn’t even blame you for wanting to shotgun at SpaceX (it’s definitely crossed our minds). But let’s chill out for a minute and look back on all the things we’ve done (or better yet, haven’t done) and use it to crush our goals for the upcoming and promising new year (fingers crossed it can only go uphill from here).
Everyone gets stressed once in a while- especially after this whirlwind of a year. But you know what? The grass is always greener on the other side especially with some green slides. So take a page from the late Buck Owens and give yourself some tender loving care once in a while. Thats, right, squeeze some selflove into your schedule once a week with a relaxing activity. Picture it: filling up a (large) glass of wine, setting the mood with a few candles, drawing a hot bubble bath… create your own little oasis. Even if you feel like you don’t deserve it (which you damn right do), taking care of yourself is more than bubble baths and face masks, sometimes it means trending a new wardrobe. So buy a pair of pink slides and have at it- we recommend bringing back denim on denim with a pair of classic blue jeans.
One of the things we’ve realised in 2020 is that health is wealth. But let’s calm down- we’re not telling you to hit the gym everyday and start drinking protein shakes. It’s all about taking those baby steps to feeling like you can take on twice as much sh*t as 2020 laid out for us (but let’s hope it doesn’t come down to that). Aside from feeling that inner glow, activate that outer bling as well with a cool and fresh new wardrobe. Make this new year the most exciting year yet by working on your fears and not letting them take hold of your life. It doesn’t have to be huge, start off small- try new foods if you’re a picky eater or bond with that crazy neighbor of yours you’ve been trying so hard to avoid. Just remember, life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
If there’s anything we’ve really learnt from 2020 it’s that time is precious and should not be spent on toxic people. So get a hold of those you care about and who care about you the same way back.
